Conab Estimates Brazil Corn at 122.01 mt, Soybeans 166.01 mt

In their February Crop Report, Conab trimmed the 2024/25 Brazil soybean estimate 0.3 million tons to 166.01 million. The 2024/25 Brazil corn estimate was increased 2.4 million tons from 119.55 million in January to 122.01 million in February.
The 2024/25 Brazil soybean acreage was increased 100,000 hectares to 47.45 million hectares (117.2 million acres). This represents an increase of 2.8% compared to last year. The nationwide soybean yield is estimated at 3,499 kg/ha (52.1 bu/ac), which is down 0.13 bu/ac from last month. The current production estimate of 166.01 million tons represents an increase of 18.3 million tons or 12.4% compared to last year.
Brazil's corn estimate was increased due to higher production of Brazil's first corn crop and the safrinha corn crop. Brazil's corn production is estimated at 122.01 million tons, which is up 6.3 million tons or 5.5% compared to last year.
The first corn crop acreage was lowered 60,000 hectares to 3.70 million hectares (9.13 million acres), which is down 6.6% compared to last year. The yield was increased by 4.5 bu/ac to 100.7 bu/ac. Brazil's first corn crop is now estimated at 23.58 million tons.
Brazil's safrinha corn acreage was increased 240,000 hectares to 16.83 million hectares (41.57 million acres), which is up 2.4% compared to last year. The safrinha corn yield is estimated at 5,706 kg/ha (90.7 bu/ac). The safrinha production is estimated at 96.04 million tons which is up 5.79 million tons or 6.4% compared to last year.
The safrinha crop represents 78,7% of Brazil's total corn production while the first crop represents 19.3% and the third crop represents 1.9%.
